KEXP: The Art of Cultural Curation — Three Decades of Shaping Musical Discourse

🎶 Continuing our series of open meetings with music professionals from the USA together with Porichka music community!

On August 22, our guest will be Darek Mazzone — DJ, filmmaker, host, and a true visionary of the global music scene. For over 30 years, he has been one of the key architects of the legendary KEXP (Seattle) radio station’s music vision. Darek will share his expertise in music curation, talk about the role of public radio in preserving cultural heritage, and explore how technology has transformed the ways we discover music.

At the heart of the conversation will be his personal journey: born in Gdansk, Poland, and not speaking a word of English for the first nine years of his life, Darek turned his immigrant experience into a unique curatorial vision for global music programming. We will also hear about his project SAMA: Music + Art, which brings together artists from around the world for cross-cultural collaboration.

This event will be held in a hybrid format: we invite Lviv residents to join the live session at America House Lviv, and everyone from other cities can join online.
